Are the benefits of overseas outsourcing over hyped, or is it appropriate in some circumstances? And beyond company issues, what about employees, local communities and the nation as a whole. Are there long term benefits beyond the initial pain? Does off-shoring free-up scarce resources for greater value-added tasks?Update: Here is Alan Cooper's report of the meeting (pdf). (This has been sitting in my inbox for a while, so my apologies for the delay.)
Our two speakers are David Followell, Head of Nationwide Business Consultancy, and Mark Kobayashi-Hillary, Global Research Director of Commonwealth Business Council Technologies and author of "Outsourcing to India: The Offshore Advantage" and regular speaker in the FT. They will debate the issues. There will be an opportunity for questions and to network over a buffet.
The event takes place at 6.15 p.m. (buffet) for 7 p.m. on 15 November 2005 at the Nationwide Building Society HQ in Swindon. There is a £15 charge to include the buffet. Due to security arrangements attendees *must* book in advance.
